As a therapist, individuals have within themselves all the tools they need to heal; that said, life makes it hard to use them consistently. Because of this, I tend to specialize in therapy modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); these modalities take a trauma-informed, client-centered, and systemic approach to addressing concerns that are being addressed. I have worked in both private and county Mental Health and Substance Use programs. At that time, I worked primarily with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills and techniques, so I also used these therapy styles.

I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene with a master’s degree in clinical counseling. I have worked with a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, ages, genders, sexualities, and experiences during my career and have helped address many mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and co-occurring drug addiction. In terms of spirituality, I minored in theology in my undergrad days. I believe therapists need to be open and curious about a client’s religion, spirituality, or higher calling, whatever that may be. However, I also believe that significant healing can be done with or without a spiritual component. As such, I leave it to the client to lead us in how far we dive into that realm within our treatment.

As a therapist, I believe in helping my clients identify what they value and what truly matters to them and helping them achieve goals that align with those things. However, there are many hiccups on that road, and I will help you through them. By helping you reconnect with the psychological parts that are helping you in the wrong way, we can get all of your parts to help you in a way that gets you to where you want to be.
