I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California Santa Cruz in 2016 and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in 2022. During the time between degrees, I traveled abroad and held several positions as an outdoor education facilitator and a nonprofit coordinator.
My therapeutic technique includes a client-centered, collaborative, and integrative approach. I view individuals holistically, culturally, and systemically. My therapeutic approach involves facilitating and utilizing the therapeutic relationship and rapport with the client using humanistic and relational-based techniques. I strive to practice cultural competency by utilizing modalities based on the client's needs, personality, culture, reason for therapy, history, symptoms, and diagnoses. I have an innate and authentic curiosity for all cultures and utilize my interest by understanding and working collaboratively with clients.
My approach typically incorporates cognitive behavioral techniques and dialectical behavioral therapy; however, I also utilize family systems, attachment-based theories, psychodynamic-based interventions, trauma-informed treatment, and psycho-somatic-based techniques. Additionally, I am a certified yoga teacher and teach at a local yoga studio; therefore, my approach involves knowledge regarding the body-mind connection and tools from yoga that complement therapy and assist with coping and treatment progress. Examples of diagnoses I have worked with include PTSD, depression, bipolar, anxiety, addiction, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, and neurodivergent. However, as mentioned, I treat clients holistically based on unique identities, symptoms, and characteristics.
Lastly, a few personal anecdotes: I live in Ventura, California, and enjoy being outside surfing, running and hiking, reading, cooking/baking, spending time with my partner, friends, and family, and practicing yoga and mindfulness. My goal as a therapist is to assist my clients with building skills, tools, and habits that increase their well-being, decrease maladaptive behaviors, increase stress tolerance, and allow them to live the life they truly want.
